Rosie Welch

Past President. 2022-2023

Rosie joined the Oregon Chapter in 2018 and swiftly jumped on board as the Electronic Communications Chair, then Secretary, and onto VP/Programs Chair. As President, Rosie enjoyed continuously connecting and learning with others in the HVAC industry and engaging presenters on diverse presentation topics for membership. Graduating from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Minor in Leadership Studies, Rosie is passionate about reducing the energy intensity of commercial buildings in her new PNW home.  Selling Building Automation Systems since 2018, she is excited by how controls and connected buildings can impact energy reduction. In Rosie’s free time, she enjoys international travel, singing in a choir, and all things soccer (Go Thorns!).

Ryan Pinckard

Past President, 2021-2022

Ryan has been involved with the HVAC & plumbing industry since 2012, currently focusing on business development at Columbia Hydronics. He is a graduate from the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business at the University of Oregon, where he also played goalie for the D2 Club Ice Hockey team. Ryan has been involved with the Oregon Chapter BOG since 2017, serving as Chapter Secretary and Membership Promotion Chair. He received the Lincoln Bouillon award from Society in 2019 for his efforts in membership promotion. In his downtime, Ryan enjoys watching hockey, participating in fantasy football, and attempting to be good at golf.

Geoff Jenks

Past President, 2020-2021

Geoff is an Associate with Sazan Group Inc. where he manages the Mechanical Department of their Portland office. Geoff has a strong contracting background working as a Project Manager and Preconstruction manager. A Portland native, Geoff has been studying engineering since high school, graduating from Benson Polytechnic High School before earning his Bachelor’s in Engineering from Portland State University and serving in the United States Coast Guard as a Machinery Technician. Geoff has served on numerous other non-profit boards and is currently still serving on two additional boards. He spent 5 years as an ACE mentor captain before taking a year off for the birth of his first child. Geoff spends his free time remodeling his house, and spending as much time as he can outdoors or with friends and family.

Nicole Dunbar

Nicole is an experienced Mechanical Designer with a deep understanding of sustainability and green building solutions. Nicole received her Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Portland State University with a focus in building science and energy efficiency. With experience in energy modeling, sustainability education, energy efficiency and building systems, Nicole is a strong engineering professional with a commitment to providing holistic building solutions for people and the planet. A proud mentor in her field, Nicole actively encourages young professionals to expand their professional horizons through industry engagement. Nicole enjoys volunteering in her community through youth outreach along with spending time outdoors.

John Farley

Past President, Region XI Research Promotion Regional Vice Chair, 2018-2019

Past ASHRAE positions have included Treasurer, Secretary and two years as Student Activities Chair. John Farley is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Oregon, has a B.S.M.E. from University of Colorado Boulder, and M.S.M.E. from Portland State University. His work experience is in semiconductor manufacturing, facilities maintenance, energy efficiency, energy auditing, and mechanical HVAC design and commissioning. John is a senior project manager for System Design Consultants in Portland. “In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, getting to the coast and mountains when possible, playing golf and working on house projects. I like to stay active and have run one marathon (Portland) and competed in several triathlons.”

Nick Collins

Past President, 2008-2009

Nick is a principal at PAE and his expertise encompasses passive design strategies which reduce operational and maintenance costs, and designs for LEED certification and incentive programs. Nick has more than 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering, project management and commissioning. Passionate about educating the next generation of engineers, Nick is an adjunct professor at Portland State University.

Eileen Jensen

Past President, Region XI Director and Regional Chair, 2005-2006

Eileen is a licensed professional engineer and retired from the Bonneville Power Administration.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Portland State University.  She is currently the Director and Regional Chair (DRC) for ASHRAE Region XI.  She enjoys doing home construction projects and gardening.

Kevin Marple

Kevin is President of Benz Air Engineering Co., Inc., a manufacturers representative firm in Beaverton, OR and specializes in Industrial Ventilation Air Pollution Control technologies. Benz Air Engineering Co., Inc. has 65 years of practical experience in sales, design, and installation of process air pollution control systems. Kevin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Warner Pacific College. After serving at the ASHRAE Oregon Chapter level he served on various ASHRAE Society Grassroots Committees and on the ASHRAE Society Board of Directors. Kevin enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, attending OSU Beaver Football games, and chasing the golf ball around the golf course.

James F Thomas

Alan Dakessian

Past President, 1999-2000

After earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Alan started his career with Honeywell. His first (and best) job was driving a 35′ trailer around the US with the Delta 1000 energy management system on-board to give branch office customer demonstrations. This was followed by positions in sales and management with Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens and Control Contractors, Inc. Alan has also worked in the energy services industry with AT&T, Siemens and Ameresco and has had a private consulting practice focused on energy services and HVAC control design. Alan has been a member of the Oregon Chapter since 1991 and is currently working as an Engineering Project Manager for the Port of Portland.

James M Haberman

James M. Haberman M.E. P.E is a Facilities and Process Energy Engineer. He served as the Oregon ASHRAE Chapter President, 1992 – 1993  and won the Presidential Award of Excellence, 1992 – 1993 for significant improvement in membership, attendance, research promotion, education, and energy management during this period. James also served as Region XI Refrigeration and Student Activities Regional Vice Chair, 1997 – 2000
