Well it’s already March and I hope everyone is ready for Spring. This must be the grayest winter I have experienced since living in Oregon. I am really looking forward to summer!
A lot of items are on our agenda for the remainder of our year at ASHRAE. We have our March meeting coming up on March 23rd; Alexei Holstein, the upcoming President for the 2017-2018 year, is heading to the ASHRAE Leadership Training April 8th; and we also have our CRC Regional meeting being held May 18-20 in Bellevue, Washington. Our annual golf tournament is slated for July at Eastmoreland Golf Course.
We are still looking to fill a few positions and would love to have dedicated individuals joining us. It really does ‘take a village’ to run an effective organization like ours. Our outreach to our members is important to give the best we can. Without the depth of volunteers, we cannot fully give 100%.
For those who don’t know, our Chapter has a long history in Portland, and we would like to share some of our items that have been hidden away in boxes for years. We may display a few items at every meeting to show our members what our organization was like since the 40s–old photographs, newsletters, correspondence, etc.. Mark Trader, our Chapter Historian, is planning on a Saturday session with a few volunteers from our Chapter to go through all the documents for archiving.
Our President-Elect is planning a research promotion call-in day this Spring to drum up support from our members and generate funds for ASHRAE. If you would like to help please contact Alexei at alexei.holstein@siemens.com.
As mentioned above, the CRC in May will be the chance we show all the other Chapters in our region what we are doing and planning for the next year. Alexei Holstein and John Farley will be giving a presentation to our Regional members. It’s also a time to meet other chapters, share ideas, and receive awards for how well we have followed the ASHRAE procedures throughout the past year. Members who have showed exceptional qualities in leadership are also recognized. It is a great experience for the leaders of our Chapter.
