YEA Willamette River Cleanup with SOLVE

September 26, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Come give back to this little known gem of a beach and hiking trail along the Willamette River.

All cleanup supplies will be provided, just dress for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes and bring a filled reusable water bottle. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing when checking in and receiving your supplies and instructions.

We will meet 1/4 mile south of the Sellwood Bridge on Hwy 43. Park on the wide shoulder, on the river side of Hwy 43. Look for the SOLVE signs and registration table.

The YEA kickoff to 2020-2021 program year was a success! Our members were able to take part in a beach cleanup event organized by SOLVE Oregon on Saturday, September 27th. We teamed up with individuals and crews from various local organizations, including the Portland Rugby Club, to help make our community a cleaner and divert materials (such as plastics, metal and motor oil) from entering the Willamette River. Plus, we found this activity particularly relevant because it was outdoors and easily allowed for volunteers to maintain social distancing and wear face coverings.

The inspiration for this event came from a brainstorming session held at last year’s YEA kickoff at Rouge Brewing – remember when we could meet at a brewery!?! Please let us know if you have any new ideas or want to get involved in a similar activity in the near future.
