July 2020 Virtual Chapter Meeting – Laboratory and Fume Exhaust Systems

July 7, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Understanding laboratory and fume exhaust system fundamentals allow engineering of solutions that will safely meet design requirements, reduce the cost of operation, and more effectively control the system pressure. This presentation reviews the fundamentals required to safely exhaust contaminated air from a critical environment with use of pre-engineered fume exhaust systems. We will review multiple plume rise equations, how the exhaust system plays a role in the bigger lab control environment, various configuration options of the systems, and redundancy options.

Speaker: Robert is an Application Engineer with Greenheck’s Lab and Fume Exhaust Systems. Robert holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Robert has 10 years’ experience in the HVAC industry including work with consulting and equipment manufacturer. He commonly presents on a variety of HVAC subjects including fan fundamentals, understanding fan sound, and laboratory/hospital exhaust systems, Matt is a member of NE Wisconsin ASHRAE and recently presented at the virtual ASHRAE summer conference.
